A great example is the special edition of a greeting card and city digest pages about Halloween.
Usually, the most basic celebration as Halloween or Christmas are the most difficult to work with. Certainly, everything is already done many times and is not interesting anymore. Then everything from the streets to the internet is full of similar and boring greetings and articles. Marketing agencies need intense brainstorming to get new ideas.
For Intermark Relocation located in Russia with a wild number of expat from countries that celebrates Halloween, we decided to go out of the box. In Russia, Halloween is a new celebration. Usually more commercial than with meaning. At the same time, there are quite a lot of Halloween parties, where people need to come with a costume or at least a mask.
Our cross-cultural idea was to make a mix of the classic Halloween and Russian mythology. The scariest Slavic god Perun was chosen for a mask. And for a greeting card, with the Kremlin (indeed a scary place) and old mystical Slavic obelisks at the back.
