Everything you wish to know about outsourced marketing

According to a report by Sagefrog, 59% of companies go for outsourcing Marketing. The primary reason is that it tends to be economical and effective since an external Marketing agency can help to implement new strategies and actions or improve existing ones.

Since time is money. As your business grows it became more time-consuming, and then you’ll need to decide what to continue handling with your present team, what to hire an extra staff person for, and what to outsource.

Every team has strengths and weaknesses, and in order to be effective, you need to recognize what you are best at, and what can be done more effectively by someone else.

Let’s find out what is outsourced marketing.

Who can benefit from outsourced Marketing?

Many businesses decide to outsource their marketing activities to help them generate leads and create brand awareness. But certain companies tend to use outsourced resources to implement their marketing programs.

Outsourced Marketing for Early-stage Businesses

Building a new business is a complex and stressful job. There are many decisions to make while developing new products and services.

At the early stage of the business, entrepreneurs often focus on creating the product and do not have the time or budget to hire full-time marketing people.

As the business owner prepares to launch their product, they need to develop a brand image. An outsourced marketing agency often handles the process that creates the company logo, design style guides, and website.

At FAMEsolutely we offer a Brand launching service for luxury holiday villas and restaurants, where we take care of all the marketing aspects from zero and build your brand and sales channels, and when the launching is done, we train your staff to maintain it. Outsourced Marketing for Growing Businesses

When companies successfully launch products, they often enter a high-growth stage to quickly bring additional marketing resources.

Outsourced marketing groups provide the needed resources and talent to expand revenue growth without adding a lot of overhead. For example, often companies cannot afford the time it takes to train and onboard new staff members.

Outsourced marketing agencies provide expertise and flexibility during these growth spurts.

See our case studies for Mind you language School, which had to totally change the way they work during the pandemic from a classroom to online.

Outsourced Marketing for Companies with large Marketing teams

Global companies employ hundreds, if not thousands, of marketing professionals to support their brand and sales initiatives.

These companies will often use outsourced professionals and agencies to provide critical services.

Depending on the circumstances, a company will hire outsourced teams to promote an event, launch a new project, or save money.

Outsourced resources are often more cost-effective than full-time employees. The company may want to boost a specific product line and hire an agency for a short-term initiative.

See, how we helped a Hospitality group that manages 2 hotels and 2 restaurants in Koh Samui, with Social Media post batching services: Social media Art Direction for Hotels and Restaurants or created social media designs and edited a magazine for ex-pats for IntermarkRelocation.

Outsourced Marketing for Niche Companies

Companies that operate in specialty markets like Luxury holiday villas, high-end Restaurants, and Luxury Travel related markets may find it difficult to hire full-time marketers with the expertise and educational background they need, especially on an island, like Koh Samui.

Outsourced marketing agencies often specialize in a specific niche market. They bring valuable resources and experience to these unique markets. For example at FAMEsolutely we special in Luxury villas, boutique hotels, resorts, and restaurants.

Many outsourced professionals combine technical expertise with marketing education or experience.

Often, they have worked for leading organizations and know the market better than full-time professionals with less experience.

Outsourced Marketing for Small Businesses

Companies with small teams, often don’t have the possibility to add an extra in-house department or to do marketing tasks on their own, due to their business direction. For example, usually, the team of a luxury villa will be about service for the guests and property maintenance, or small restaurants will only have staff educated for cooking and service, often the team, cannot handle Marketing tasks.

See how we took care of the whole cycle of marketing for NUN BAO Samui, from the launching, until closing. As well as our Villa clients: Samui Turquoise Villas, Baan View Talay, and Kerem Villas.

What sort of marketing activities can be outsourced?

Actually, you can outsource every possible marketing service based on your company’s budget and requirements.

You can look out for services like:

  • Marketing Strategy,
  • Content Marketing,
  • Social Media Marketing, (See Social Media Services)
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO),
  • Email marketing,
  • Online and offline advertising, (See Social Media Booster)
  • Website Design and Development,
  • Branding & Graphic Design,
  • Public Relations (PR)
  • and a lot more.

Some specialized Marketing agencies will offer more specific extra services for each industry, for example at FAMEsolutely we can also take care of OTA setup for luxury villas, connection with services like CloudBeds, POS setup for restaurants, connection to Square POS, in-villa communication designs, Menu Design engineering for restaurants, Booking assistance, etc.

Why outsourcing Marketing?

When it comes to marketing it is a general thought that you can do marketing with the in-house team, but it isn’t just about the capability of your in-house team but the benefits that come with an outsourcing marketing agency.

Your team will know your product, services, and values the best but you need someone who has a better understanding of marketing and the market or audience.

How does outsourcing Marketing work?

Usually, all marketing agencies will start by knowing your brand. Generally, marketing agencies tend to spend a good amount of time understanding your business’s current situation and targeted scenario.

To simplify the process structure into a few steps it will be something like this:

Step 1: Identifying your business objectives and auditing your existing operations, concurrent

Step 2: Preparing a marketing strategy as per your goals

Step 3: Detailed discussion on plans and channels for marketing your business.

Step 4: Implementation

Step 5: Analyzing results, and revamping loopholes in strategy for betterment.

The Scale of outsourcing

This scale is a tool you can use to determine your company’s level of investment in outsourced marketing. It is not a measure of marketing sophistication (for instance, a Level 3 is not necessarily better than a Level 0), nor do individual levels correspond to firm size. But if you are evaluating outsourcing as a strategy, this scale can help you understand how you compare to other firms.

Level 0 – Never

All functions in-house / Nothing outsourced

This level can be found in all kinds of companies, small or large. They support all marketing needs in-house. With a small or large and highly skilled marketing team.

Level 1 – Sometimes

Some specialized projects or functions are outsourced.

Usually, the marketing agency realizes one-time projects or specific tasks. Example: Launch the brand, create a website, create brand identity, etc.

The Agency is usually in contact with the Project manager/ Management/direction

Level 2 – Partially

In-house team and agency share marketing tasks and routines

Usually in this case the tasks and routines will be divided between the in-house team and the agency. It can be as just routine functions, for example, following a content calendar created by the in-house team, as well as outsourcing partial functions, for example, the in-house team takes care of everything, except digital marketing, which is fully outsourced by the agency.

The Agency usually coordinates with the in-house marketing team.

Level 3 – Totally

All functions outsourced  / no Marketing functions in-house

At Level 3, all marketing, including the strategy, is handled by a third-party agency.

The agency works closely with management and direction, or the business owner, to align the marketing strategy with overall business objectives. The Company management is kept apprised of performance at frequent, regular intervals.

Typically, the underlying goal of every company is to make a profit and maximize sales – on that we can all agree. But not all companies have the proper expertise in Marketing, communications, SEO, or design order to achieve that goal. This is normal, and that’s why more and more companies are choosing to outsource Marketing.
